Environmental Outcomes: The Atlanta regional Council will integrate the principles of aging in place and smart growth in one pilot community, Cobb County, to demonstrate how smart growth activities can improve the health of the rapidly growing older adult population. They will demonstrate how a suburban county can change its current policies and community design strategies to increase housing and transportation choices and options available to older adults. The ARC developed a tool kit, which is intended to help local governments merge smart growth and aging in place priorities. This project will pilot the toolkit.
