ALIEN SENTENCED AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO IMPROPER ENTRY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

J. ISIDRO MEDINA-MARTINEZ, age 42, a resident of Mexico, was sentenced by U. S. Magistrate Judge Alma L. Chasez to four (4) months imprisonment, with credit for time served after pleading guilty to one-count of improper entry by an alien, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

J. ISIDRO MEDINA-MARTINEZ was charged with being an alien who was found having previously knowingly and unlawfully entered the United States at a time and place other than as designated by immigration officers for entrance of immigrants into the United States. The defendant was charged in a one-count bill of information on October 25, 2007.

The case was investigated by the Department of Interior, National Park Service, Jean Lafitte National and Historical Park and Preserve, Law Enforcement and Investigations Division, Barataria Unit. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
