FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KC MAN CHARGED WITH ARMED BANK ROBBERY

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Kansas City, Mo., man was charged in federal court today with the armed robbery of Union Bank in Kansas City.

Landein Charles Craddock, 25, of Kansas City, was charged in a federal criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Kansas City with the armed robbery of Union Bank, 222 W. Gregory Blvd. in Kansas City, on April 27, 2007. Craddock was arrested today and had his initial court appearance this afternoon.

An affidavit filed in support of the federal criminal complaint alleges that Craddock approached a bank teller at approximately 9:45 a.m. the day of the robbery and ordered her to fill a Quik Trip bag with cash. According to the affidavit, Craddock had a semi-automatic handgun tucked into his waistband. When the teller placed approximately $5,000 in the bag and returned it to him, the affidavit says, Craddock ran from the bank.

Wood cautioned that the charge contained in this complaint is simply an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charge must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David A. Barnes. It was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
