Payment Calculation Base for 2001

Methodology

Section 411.500 of the Code of Federal Regulations defines the Title II payment calculation base for any year to mean—

In connection with a title II disability beneficiary (including a concurrent title II/title XVI disability beneficiary), the average monthly disability insurance benefit payable under section 223 of the Social Security Act for months during the preceding calendar year to all beneficiaries who are in current pay status for the month for which the benefit is payable.

The table below shows the number of beneficiaries and corresponding payment amounts for 2000, together with the resulting average amounts. The average amount per beneficiary for calendar year 2000 is the Title II payment calculation base for 2001.
