Tajik Dairy Farms Improve Productivity

The 500 dairy farmers who have received loans and technical assistance from the USAID AgFin+ project implemented by DAI have significantly increased their productivity and ability to compete with the milk processing companies of Central Asia. On average, farmers who take $600 loans for six months earn $70-79 profit for the period, while farmers that take $1,000 one-year loans achieve a $297-315 profit for the period. The project provides all participating farmers with free veterinarian services and consultations on farm management.

Most importantly, the program has observed lasting results. Upon completion of their cooperation with AgFin+, farmers have continued to use veterinary services for a fee, recognizing the added value of utilizing these services. In addition, veterinarian specialists who have cooperated with the project have created their own companies and are establishing a network of veterinary centers.
