Small Towns Appreciate USAID's Anti-Trafficking Activities
As part of an ongoing anti-trafficking outreach program, representatives from the Russian NGO “Club of the Unemployed,” a partner in USAID’s Trafficking Prevention and Information Dissemination (TIPD) program, met with representatives from the local Department of Education, the Committee on Youth Affairs and other officials in the city of Kropotkin in Krasnodarskiy Kray on April 22. The meeting’s purpose was to discuss future partnerships between the Club and Kropotkin educational institutions to prevent human trafficking. The local authorities confirmed that a lack of professional opportunities poses a serious problem in small Russian towns. By the administration’s calculations, more than 4500 young women in Kropotkin would benefit from additional anti-trafficking information and education. The officials called for increased anti-trafficking activities for all vulnerable youth in Russia.
