The Press Office is the focal point in the Social Security Administration (SSA) for all activities related to the news media. It is responsible for keeping the Commissioner and SSA's Executive staff informed about articles and issues appearing in the news. Press Office personnel are available to offer assistance when dealing with difficult press issues. All press inquiries of a sensitive nature should be brought to the attention of the Press Officer. Copies of major news articles about SSA and/or the programs it administers should be faxed to the Press Office. Originals of articles featuring the Commissioner should be faxed then mailed to the Press Office. The Press Office hours of operation are generally weekdays, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET. Voice mail is active 24 hours a day whenever Press Office staff is not available.
