Janet Watt is a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey working with the Western Region Earth Surface Processes Team in Menlo Park, California. Recently, her research has focused on theoretical and applied research utilizing potential-field methods to understand earthquake and volcano hazards, and mineral and water resources in the western U.S. She combines geologic, geophysical, and seismicity data to create 3D geologic models of geothermal resources in Nevada and of active fault systems in the San Francisco Bay Area and central California.
