SPECIALTIES

Potential field methods, estimation of the depth to magnetic sources, marine magnetic anomalies, statistical modeling of the paleomagnetic field, characteristics of the magnetic field produced by numerical geodynamo simulations.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

* Assessment of the heat-flow in the Great Basin and the Snake River Plain using aeromagnetic maps. Methodology: study of the radial power spectrum of magnetic anomalies to estimate the depth to the bottom of magnetic sources assumed to correspond to the depth to the Curie temperature isotherm.

* Study of the intensity fluctuations of the paleomagnetic field using marine magnetic anomaly profiles. Methodology: Computation of stacks of marine magnetic profiles for various oceanic basins. The comparison of these stacks shows the existence of worldwide coherent short wavelength anomalies (or tiny wiggles), associated, for most of them, to variations in intensity of the magnetic field.

* Study of the statistical properties of the magnetic field produced by numerical geodynamo simulations.
