Prisoners at Midyear 1994

This BJS press release reports that the number of persons in State and Federal prisons exceeded 1 million for the first time on June 30, 1994. In a State-level table, the report provides 6- and 12- month growth rates and the current incarceration rate per 100,000 resident population.
