Purpose
Seafloor mapping (using multibeam sonar and deep-towed
camera) and sampling (by dredge) of fossil and live cold-water
corals for paleo-oceanographic and ecological studies.

Summary
Multibeam bathy was collected continuously. 6 TOWCAM
transects completed. 3 CTDs completed. 51 trawls and dredges
deployed and rocks, corals, and other animals photographed and
preserved. See bound cruise report for more information.

All multibeam and photographic data and fossil coral
specimens will be archived at WHOI. Modern coral specimens will be
archived at University of Hawaii. A separate scientific party from
the University of Texas shared the shiptime. They collected
multibeam bathymetry, underway magnetics and multichannel seismics
and dredged rock samples. Those data are not part of this project
and are archived at Univ. of Texas (P.I.s: Ian Dalziel and Larry

Lawver)
37 days at sea.
62 stations occupied.

Got Help?
For 08004, we would appreciate any information on -- analog materials, contract, days at sea, dive count, kms of navigation, national plan, NGDC Info, owner, project number, scanned materials, seismic description, station count, station description, submersible, tabulated info.
