Crew
Brian Collins LIDAR surveying, University of California, Berkeley
Scott Schiele LIDAR surveying, I-SiTE 3D Laser Scanning, Denver, Colorado
Purpose
High resolution, topographic data collection of landslide morphology.
Information to be Derived
Topographic surface data
Summary
Five scans of the site were
collected, two at high resolution (1+ million data points each)and three at
medium resolution (0.4 million data points each). This data was collected of
a recent landslide in Daly City as part of a USGS CMG sponsored research
project implemented by the University of California, Berkeley, Dept. of Civil
and Environmental Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Nicholas Sitar.
Notes
2003 Daly City Landslide Investigation,
ground based tripod lidar; Riegl Z210 terrestrial LIDAR laser scanning system
Survey data was collected via a single known control point (STA-B) and a
backsight point (STA-C) originally installed by Cotton, Shires, and
Associates, Los Gatos, California. All other laser set up locations were
registered and georeferenced through best-fit surface registration algorithms
via post-processing software.
