Purpose
Alvin dives in deep-water coral habitat for biological
Summary
Three Alvin dives were carried out, one in Gilbert Canyon,
one in Oceanographer Canyon, and one on Picket Seamount. Six
Photographic traverses were made using TOWCAM, a towed sled with a
still camera set to take overlapping pictures of the seafloor.
Living and fossil coral and other invertebrates were collected.
Specimens were sent to various museums and researchers. Photo and
video data are archived at WHOI.
