The House Passes H.R. 1264, The "Right-To-Know National Payroll Act"

On July 18, 2000 the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1264, the "Right-to-Know National Payroll Act" by voice vote. The bill would:

  • Require that each employer show on the W-2 form of each employee the employer's share of OASDI and HI tax for the employee, as well as the total amount of such taxes for the employee; and,
  • Require employers to show on the W-2 form any tier I railroad retirement tax that relates to OASDI and HI that the employer has paid.

The bill was received in the Senate on July 19, 2000. As of today, no further action had been taken on the bill.
