Research Task: 8327CKX.1.0
Task Manager: Bob Waltermire

FORT’s in-house GIS and Remote Sensing Team supports the advancement of biological research by designing, developing, and performing analyses independently and at the request of FORT scientists and clients. Specifically, the team provides expertise in geographic information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), aerial photography processing, satellite image processing, metadata, publication-quality geo-graphics, and relational database management systems (RDBMS). These technologies are used to produce alpha-numeric datasets and maps for a variety of research efforts pertaining to wildfire, habitat quality, land use, invasive species distribution, and many other resource issues. In many functional areas the team also provides consultation, technical support, and training for use or purchase of components.
