Global Climate Change: Annual Reporting

USAID's Impact on Land Management graph shows results for fiscal years 1998-2006 in which USAID
promoted the conservation of carbon stocks in millions of hectares: 55 million FY1998, 57 million in FY1999,
                    66 million in FY2000, 94 million in FY2001, 120 million in FY2002, 147 million in FY2003, 275 million in FY2004,
300 million in FY2005, 321 million in FY2006. These efforts to promote forest conservation also help to mitigate
climate change by absorbing and storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.Source: USAID

As a federal government agency, USAID is subject to reporting on annual climate change expenditures and activities. Each year, the Global Climate Change Team reports to Congress, the White House, U.S. government agencies, and the public on the climate-related activities of USAID.
