Public Service Announcements (PSAs)

PSAs are powerful tools for promoting the fact that treatment is effective and recovery is possible. Broadcasters are invited to request copies of the PSAs highlighted below. To make your request, e-mail recoverymonth@samhsa.hhs.gov or call (617) 520-2576. Please specify whether you would like radio and/or television PSAs. If radio, please specify if you would like the English and/or Spanish versions. If you would like the television PSAs, please specify if you would like VHS or Beta, the length (:15 seconds and/or :30 seconds), the language (English and/or Spanish) and whether you want an open-ended or SAMHSA-tagged PSA. Open-ended PSAs allow organizations to put their own contact information at the end of the PSA.

The links below will guide you directly to the PSAs which debuted in each respective year. The PSAs are NOT time sensitive and can be used any time of the year.

Radio PSAs

Radio public service announcements (PSAs) qualify for free air time only if they are used to promote a nonprofit organization or public service. Stations will often accept pre-written scripts from organizations seeking to convey a public service message that benefits members of the community. The station can read these scripts over the air.

The scripts give the HHS/SAMHSA Center for Substance Abuse Treatment's toll-free national Helpline, 1-800-662-HELP, as a resource. If your State, county, or community has its own toll-free hotline number, we encourage you to use it in place of the national number. Please inform those operating the hotline that you will be using their number in the scripts.
