Businesses Stand Together Against Corruption

More than 150 leaders from the private sector, government and civil society gathered at the Sunway Hotel in Phnom Penh to launch the Clean Business Initiative on September 22. The initiative is a growing business-led movement designed to achieve two goals: support private sector development by enabling businesses to work in a fair environment, and promote “clean” business practices within company operations. USAID Provides Over $24 million for Economic Growth in Cambodia

The U.S. Government and the Royal Government of Cambodia signed a four-year bilateral agreement that will provide $26 million in funding to support Cambodian priorities in economic growth. Of that amount, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) will provide $24 million in funding, and the Cambodian government will provide $2 million of in kind support. USAID Funds Green Computer Lab

USAID unveiled a thin-client computer lab on September 11 at a secondary school in rural Kampong Cham Province. Located in Kor Secondary School in Preychhor District, the facility is Cambodia’s first school-based lab to feature the energy-efficient thin-client technology. Under the thin-client setup, a main server is linked to multiple work stations that don’t have hard drives or software applications. (Full text - PDF, 52KB) |

USAID Co-Sponsors the National AIDs Conference

The National AIDS Conference this month drew over 700 key players from the government, donors and civil society to discuss the status of HIV/AIDS in Cambodia. The focus of the three-day conference, which was supported in part by USAID with PEPFAR funds, was to increase coordination among agencies that work on the front lines of the AIDS epidemic.
