Recovery from addiction to alcohol and drugs is something we can celebrate throughout the year. But the September observance of National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month provides millions of Americans with a unique opportunity to see and embrace what addiction and recovery mean to families, communities, and people in recovery. In September 2005 hundreds of Recovery Month events were held across the country to celebrate recovery and highlight the fact the addiction is treatable and recovery is possible.
In this program, we will look at the tremendous educational and awareness raising events conducted in communities large and small as the country came together to heal lives, families and communities. We will highlight Recovery Month community forums, walks and runs for recovery, Major League Baseball games, music-based activities, and other events that exemplify that addiction is treatable and recovery is possible.
