Program Abstract:
Addiction to alcohol and drugs is the number one cause of preventable illness and death in America. Sadly, more than nine in 10 physicians fail to spot a drug or alcohol problem in adults, and more than four in 10 miss a problem in teenagers. In this program you will learn about innovative efforts to educate health care professionals on appropriate screening, intervention, and referral procedures that can easily be incorporated into clinical settings. You will also learn of national initiatives that are helping to make alcohol and drug screenings available to adolescents and adults throughout the United States.
