Parenting: The 12 Step Approach

Description

Addiction is a family disease and recovery is a family process. The impact of parental addiction on children is devastating. The deepseated resentment, mistreatment and neglect experienced by these children can be resolved as the parent undertakes the process of recovery. This seminar is designed to provide participants with a
clearer understanding of the significant issues a parent in recovery typically experiences and the ensuing family struggles as the parent begins recovery. Strategies for maximizing strong, recovery-based parenting skills will be discussed. 12 Step, recovery-based parenting skills can be used by all parents, not just those in recovery from addiction.

Pro-A 5th Annual Conference. "Partnerships in Recovery"

Description

Working together is central to the success of recovery. Coorperation, partnership, and collaboration are necessary components in developing a recovery support system that is truly person-driven and recovery-focused. Yet, so often we pass up opportunities to work together to support individuals and their families in the recovery process. It is our hope that this conference will engage not only professionals such as State Legislators, clinicians, administrators, criminal justice workers, employee assistance professionals, and others but, more importantly, individuals from the recovery community, their families and other recovery advocates to support and embrace the need for partnerships in recovery because recovery really is everybodys business!! Highlights of this event includ, but not limited to, networking, continuing education, issues forum, and speaking with state representatives.
