FAQ-69: 20 percent reduction

Question: Is a 20 percent reduction in pressure an adequate interim measure for immediate repair conditions?

Answer: Yes. The rule specifies that the temporary pressure reduction be determined using ASME/ANSI B31G or RSTRENG or that pressure must be reduced to a level not exceeding 80 percent of the level at the time the condition was discovered.
