September is the 15th annual National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month, which will celebrate people in recovery who have overcome stigma, denial, and other barriers to treatment -- and as a result are leading healthy and productive lives in recovery. Come join us for a panel of five voices in recovery. Two of the voices to be heard are Judge Steven Becker, Chief Judge for the 27th Judicial District and Harold Casey, CEO of SACK. Poster Contest Exhibit
SRS/Addiction & Prevention Services (AAPS) sponsored a poster art contest during the summer of 2004 as a prelude to increase awareness of Recovery Month during September. The winner's artwork will be used on brochures and other media to promote a statewide Recovery Conference, June 9-11, 2005. All the entries will be exhibited in the Capitol First Floor Rotunda during Recovery Month. Information about Recovery Month and the conference will be availableat the exhibit. The focus of the conference is on reducing the stigma of addictions. Consumers from around the state were encouraged to submit their interpretation of recovery. This is the first year for the event.
