2008 National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month Press Conference and Kick-Off - SAMHSA-Sponsored
Description
The Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will unveil the results of the 2007 National Survey on Drug Use and Health at a press conference on Thursday, September 4. The annual survey, formerly called the Household Survey is the largest of its kind, and is the governments primary vehicle for determining how many persons are abusing illegal drugs, pharmaceuticals, alcohol and tobacco.

The release of the 2007 survey results is the keynote of the annual National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month press conference marking a month long observance of the gains made by those in recovery from alcohol and drug abuse, as well as treatment providers.

Circle of Joy Wellness Festival
Description
The third annual Circle of Joy Wellness Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2008. Anyone interested in learning more about nutrition, exercise, alcohol and other drug abuse recovery, health, and well-being is welcome to attend. A massage therapist will be available for chair massage sessions. Displays include topics such as: strategies for weight loss, vitamin and herbal supplements, water purifying, and decreasing aggression in schools. Delicious organic, nutritious foods will be sold as a fund raiser for Visions Counseling, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers counseling services to those who do not have health insurance.
