Voices for Recovery

Chad Putman's Story

My name is Chad Putman. I am 33 years old and a member of the long-term recovery community. Which means i have been sober from Drugs and Alcohol since, April 19, 1997.
I have also been nicotine free for 6 years. I am also recovering from sex addiction with the help of anti-depressants and SLAA.
Today I am committed to recovery because recovery has given me hope and stability that I enjoy each and every day. Today I am a tax paying citizen, a participant in our democratic process and developing my career in social welfare.
I have had the honor to work on the front lines as a case manager in the HIV/AIDS community often working with others in recovery or struggling w/ mental illness or substance abuse.
In August 2009, I will have earned my Master's in Social Work from SUNY Albany; all of my collegiate education a direct result of my recovery.
Next summer I hope to work with returning Veterans at the VA in Albany. I am also planning on obtaining a CASAC and specializing in dual disorder tx (Substance Abuse/Mental Illness).
Today I am an advocate for the recovery community and those in need of recovery.
Sincerely, Chad Putman
