UNDP, Royal Norwegian Embassy sign additional US$ 1.5 million (NRs. 114 million) to bring peace dividend to marginalized communities  New!
The Royal Norwegian Embassy and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed an additional amount of US$ 1.5 million (NOK 10 million) for the continuation of the Quick Impact for Peace Support Initiative (QIPSI) in 11 eastern Terai and 9 mid and far western districts of Nepal. This contribution will support the Ministry of Local Development (MLD) to provide immediate peace dividend to the most disadvantaged communities in an additional 200 VDCs in these 20 districts.

Statement Delivered by UN RC/HC/RR on the occasion of the National Symposium on Public Private Partnership  
The Public Private Partnership (PPP) Symposium kicked off today, inaugurated by the Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. The objective of the two-day symposium organised by the Ministry of Local Development, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and UNDP is to hold a detailed discussion with six Ministries on the importance of Public Private Partnership and its application in six vital sectors such as Tourism, Infrastructure Development, Education, Health, Local Development and Agriculture.

Art of Living commemorates International Day for the Eradication of Poverty
On the occasion of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, a musical event was organized by The Art of Living Foundation, a social and spiritual organization, in an open air theatre in downtown Kathmandu where altogether 4000 people stood-up in the campaign to end poverty while the pledge was being read out by Pandit Din Bandhu Pokharel, a spiritual leader.

Conservation in Thakurdwara bufferzone, Bardia National Park [20-10-2008]
This ten kilometers long electric fencing has been constructed to keep out rampaging wild elephants from invading villages and farmland of locals living in the BNP buffer zone. The fence construction began in June 2007 and was completed in three months.
Rural energy lights up 239 households of a remote village [05-09-2008]
The 24 kilowatt micro-hydro project supported by the UNDP Rural Energy Development Programme has brought electricity to 239 households of remote Dandagaun village benefitting a total of 1534 people. Tamangs and Magars (indigenous peoples) make up the majority of the population in this village.....
Successful bee keeping enterprise of a young entrepreneur ! [05-09-2008]
Bista's life took a new turn when he received a five-day bee-keeping training organised in Kailali by the UNDP Micro-enterprise Development Programme (MEDEP) in 2004. In the training he learnt how to store, purify and produce honey; as well as some marketing techniques .
