Profile America — Friday, November 28th. The holiday shopping season gets off in grand style today — traditionally one of the biggest shopping days in the year. In fact, the day after Thanksgiving is often called “Black Friday,” not in a negative sense, but because many retailers have moved out of the red and into the black as far as annual sales are concerned by this day. Perhaps the busyness of the day is why it’s also National Salespersons Day, honoring the men and women who make shopping an enjoyable experience across the country. In the U.S., there are nearly 49,000 shopping centers, which sell just over $1.5 trillion worth of goods and services annually. You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau online at <www.census.gov>.
