The Azerbaijan Economic Development Program, funded by USAID, is designed to assist small and medium-sized businesses in developing business skills while also assisting the sector in working with and winning contracts from multinational companies operating within the region.

The MBA Enterprise Corps, a part of Citizens Development Corps (CDC), participated in the USAD-funded program by hosting the first Azerbaijan Business Case Competition which brought students from across Azerbaijan together for a valuable learning experience. The goal of the competition was to use case studies in teaching to build analytical and presentation skills of business students. Fifteen teams were given 24 hours each to analyze a business problem derived from a Texan oil firm operation on whether or not to build a new oil pipeline. The teams analyzed the profitability and financing of the project, and presented their conclusions and recommendations to a distinguished panel of judges.

The first prize team won a one-month business training course at a US university sponsored by USAID. As a result of the competition, students interviewed with potential employers who attended the event and one student received a job offer with a consulting firm.
