OSHA ANNOUNCES FEDERAL ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING

WASHINGTON -- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is holding an open meeting of the Federal Advisory Council on Occupational Safety and Health (FACOSH) in Washington, D.C. on Wed., Oct. 29, 2003.

The council will meet from 1:30-4:30 p.m. in Room N3437 A/B/C of the Department of Labor Frances Perkins Building, 200 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20210.

The council advises OSHA on issues concerning the safety and health of federal employees. The Council, composed of eight union officials representing federal employees and eight management representatives from various federal agencies, also helps establish and maintain effective safety initiatives and policies in every federal agency.

Agenda items include:
  • Update on federal recordkeeping proposed change
  • Report on 58th Annual Federal Safety and Health Awards Ceremony and Training
  • Young Workers Initiative
  • SHARE '04 initiative
  • Emergency Preparedness for Employees with Disabilities
Written comments may be submitted by Oct. 22 to the Office of Federal Agency Programs, Room N-3622, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210. Twenty copies are needed.

Anyone wishing to make an oral presentation to the committee on any of the agenda items should notify the Office of Federal Agency Programs by Oct. 24. The request should specify the amount of time desired, the capacity in which the person will appear and a brief outline of the presentation.
