The number of master's degrees earned by women rose more rapidly than for men since 1990.
- By 2002, women earned 44 percent of S&E and 63 percent of non-S&E master's degrees, up from 34 and 58 percent, respectively, in 1990.
- For men and women, the proportion of master's degrees earned in S&E fields has declined since 1990.
