What Type of Information is Provided Here?

The purpose of the National Compliance Assistance Clearinghouse is to aid the day-to-day function of those who help the industry comply with US EPA or State environmental regulations. Therefore, the information contained in this site are compliance assistance in nature. To help determine what falls under the term "compliance assistance activities," an US EPA Definition of Compliance Assistance is provided below:

Definition of Compliance Assistance

Compliance assistance includes activities, tools or technical assistance which provides clear and consistent information which 1) helps the regulated community to understand and meet its obligations under environmental regulations; or 2) can be used as a resource for compliance assistance providers in providing assistance to the regulated community. Compliance assistance information may also help the regulated community find cost-effective ways to comply with regulations and/or go "beyond compliance" through the use of pollution prevention, environmental management practices and innovative technologies, thus improving their environmental performance. To be categorized as a compliance assistance information resource, at least one objective of the information must be related to achieving or advancing regulatory compliance.
