QUEEN CITY, TEXAS MAN SENTENCED FOR BANK ROBBERY

(Texarkana, TX)  United States Attorney Becky Gregory announced today that a 49 year old Queen City, Texas man was sentenced for a bank robbery committed in the Eastern District of Texas.

 
            MATTHEW BILLING SCHLATRE was sentenced to 51 months for the bank robbery, and ordered to pay $8,475.90 in restitution.  Schlatre's sentence stems from the October 6, 2007 robbery of the Century Bank located at 4702 South Lake Drive in Texarkana, Texas.  During a plea hearing earlier this year, Schlatre admitted that he presented a note to a teller, and placed his hands under his shirt to give the appearance that he was carrying a gun.  United States District Judge David Folsom sentenced Schlatre during a hearing today in Texarkana. 

            This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Denise Simpson.
