FIVE MEMBERS OF METHAMPHETAMINE DISTRIBUTION RING SENTENCED TO PRISON TERMS

Acting United States Attorney Julia C. Dudley announced today that Spencer Jay Stoneberger, age 34, of Luray, Kristin Rae Campbell, age 35, of Stanley, Jeffrey Allen Kline, age 29, of Luray, Andrew Wayne Knight, age 39, of Luray and David Anthony Hilliards, age 21, of Luray, were sentenced in the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia in Harrisonburg today for their roles in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

“I hope today’s action by the Court serves as a lesson to all those individuals who sell drugs, especially methamphetamine, in the Western District of Virginia,” Acting United States Attorney Julia C. Dudley said. “I want to thank all the local, state and federal agents who worked to bring this conspiracy to justice.”

All five defendants sentenced today, along with other co-conspirators, were indicted January 17, 2008 and charged with conspiring to manufacture, possess with the intent to distribute and distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine, and various other drug-related charges.

Spencer Stoneberger and Campbell pled guilty to the conspiracy count on March 26, 2008. Knight and Hilliards pled guilty to the same charge on April 1, 2008 and May 1, 2008 respectively. In addition to the conspiracy charge, Kline also pled guilty to one count of possessing with the intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and one count of distributing a substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine on April 16, 2008.

The sentences handed down today are as follows: Stoneberger, 170 months of Federal incarceration; Knight, 120 months of Federal incarceration; Hilliards, 120 months of Federal incarceration; Kline, 80 months of Federal incarceration; and Campbell, 40 months of Federal incarceration.

Brandy Lynn Stoneberger, age 28, of Luray, is the only other co-conspirator to have been sentenced. Brandy Stoneberger pled guilty to one count of manufacturing, possessing with the intent to distribute and distributing more than 500 grams of methamphetamine. On June 4, 2008, she and was sentenced to 78 months of Federal incarceration.

Hearings for the other four co-conspirators, Antonio Guerrero, Irene Rodriguez, Kenneth Lee Good Jr. And Jason Lee Hilliards are scheduled in the near future.

The investigation of the case was conducted by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with the assistatance of many local law enforcement officers. Assistant United States Attorney Jeb Terrien is prosecuting the case for the United States.
