Acting United States Attorney Julia C. Dudley announced today that Steven Wayne Sowers, age 31, of Dugspur, Virginia, has pled guilty in United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia in Roanoke to charges that he participated in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
“Thanks to the men and women who investigated this case, these dealers of large amounts of methamphetamine are off our streets,” Acting United States Attorney Julia C. Dudley said today. “I want to thank everyone who helped investigate and prosecute these defendants.”
Sowers pled guilty this afternoon to one count of participating in a conspiracy to distribute more than 50 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine.
Sowers, Walter Miguel Osuna Guzman, age 31, Aaron W. Crockett, age 45, of Fancy Gap, Virginia and Bobby Joe Huff, age 64, of Dugspur, Virginia, were indicted on September 6, 2007. Osuna Guzman, Crockett and Huff were charged with conspiracy to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.
On May 27, 2008, both Huff and Crockett pled guilty to one count each of conspiring to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine. The two will have separate sentencing hearings on August 19, 2008.
The investigation of the case was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration for the United States Attorney’s Office, Western District of Virginia. Assistant United States Attorney Andrew Bassford is prosecuting the case.
