U.S. Department of Commerce Assistant Secretarial Trade Mission to Vietnam

Vietnam – A Great Market for U.S. Businesses:

Vietnam’s booming economy enjoys an estimated 8.4 percent annual growth and a $61 billion GDP.

Vietnam boasts a young population of 84 million, known for their eagerness for quality products, innovative technologies, and new business opportunities.

On January 11, 2007 Vietnam became a member of the World Trade Organization, which will make it increasingly easier to open businesses and sell products in most major sectors.

Since the signing of the U.S.–Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement in 2001, two-way trade has increased from about $1.5 billion to $9.7 billion.

U.S. companies have the chance to launch or increase their current sales in this growing market by joining Commerce Assistant Secretary for Trade Promotion Israel Hernandez as he leads a delegation of U.S. businesses on the Business Development Mission to Vietnam June 16-20, 2008.
