An explanation of CPSC's voluntary standards subscription list system
CPSC has eight voluntary standards subscription lists. They correspond to the eight major headings on the voluntary standards home page, and are:
- The "vsco" (Carbon Monoxide) list - covering alarms, engine driven tools, gas-fired appliances, sensors
- The "vschild" (Children's Products - Other) list - covering certain baby and child products, blind cords, playground equipment, helmets, toys, shopping carts
- The "vsdrown" (Child Drowning Prevention) list - covering baby bath seats, pool flotation devices, pools/spas, suction release devices, swimming pool alarms
- The "vscodes" (Child Drowning Prevention) list - covering arc-fault circuit interrupters, clothes dryers, electric heaters, portable fans, hair dryers, smoke alarms, surge suppressors
- The "vselec" (Electrocutions) list - covering Ground-Fault Circuit Interruptors, National Electrical Code
- The "vsfire" (Fire/Gas Codes and Standards) list - covering candles, emergency escape masks, fire sprinklers, gas grills, gas vented/unvented heaters,
ranges and ovens, turkey fryers
- The "vsmech" (Household/Recreation - Mechanical) list - covering all-terrain vehicles, bicycles (structural integrity), chain saws, garage door and gate operators, plastic gasoline tanks, gun locks, mowers, non-powder guns, table saws, snow blowers, tree stands, trampolines, weed trimmers and brushcutters
- The "vspoison" (Poison Prevention) list - covering child-resistant packaging, child-resistant gasoline containers
