ENERGY STAR Challenge Participant Story

Keene State College
Keene, New Hampshire
Date Joined: December 11, 2007

Keene State College is a public liberal arts college granting associate and baccalaureate degrees, with one graduate degree offered in Education. Roughly 25% of the student body is from New Hampshire .

Our primary audience for promoting energy efficiency through the ENERGY STAR Challenge is our residential student population and physical plant members; our secondary target audience is faculty and other staff. Keene State is communicating the benefits of energy efficiency through ENERGY STAR to our community through a peer-to-peer education program for students called "Eco-Reps." We also promote ENERGY STAR during Earth Week events in April.

A key EPA resource that is shared with Keene State building owners to help improve building energy efficiency is Portfolio Manager. In addition, we offer workshops on audit procedures and process and are using current EPA and ENERGY STAR publications to inform community members about the financial savings and environmental benefits of improving energy efficiency in our college buildings, homes and community.
