1997 Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) Data Files
1997 Reporting Year information is available in a series of "state" files. The TRI RY1997 State Data Files present the data as it was released and published in the Public Data Release report. Appendix A (PDF) (22 pp, 36KB, About PDF) contains the names and file sizes resulting from the download process for every state. National Data Files
- The National Data File (9.14MB) file contains all of the information found in all
of the RY1997 State Files.
- The US Release and Transfer file (PDF) (4.38MB) file contains all of the release and transfer information
found in all of the RY1997 State Files.
- The "US Source Reduction and Recycling
Activities" (6.4MB) file contains all of the source reduction
and recycling activities information found in all of the RY1997
State Files.
- The "US Source Reduction and Recycling Activities Methods" (135MB) file contains all of the source reduction and recycling activities methods information found in all of the RY1997 State Files.
- The "US Transfer to Off-Site Location" (17MB) file. This file contains information about all reported transfers to off-site locations nationwide. Included are the state of origin and destination, codes identifying the facility of origin, and detailed information about the facility to which the release was transferred, the amount of the transfer and how the substance(s) was managed.

Federal Facility Data Files
The Federal Facilities file (312KB) contains TRI information about all government-owned facilities throughout the United States that are required to report.
State Data Files RY 97
State TRI data is available in the database format commonly known as dBase (having the file extension <filename>.dbf). dBase files can be opened by most database, spreadsheet, and even word processing programs. Each state file contains the most frequently used TRI data, such as the names, locations, and contacts for reporting facilities; chemical names and CAS numbers; aggregate releases in pounds of chemicals released to air, land, water, and underground injection wells; total chemical transfers to off-site locations and publicly owned treatment works; and selected pollution prevention data. The above files are in a compressed, self-extracting format and each includes complete user instructions.
