What is the Air Quality Alert Program?

The Air Quality Alert program, also known as EnviroFlash, is a free service provided by EPA in conjunction with the New England states which automatically notifies you by e-mail, digital cell phone or pager when poor air quality is predicted in your area.

What Areas in New England are Covered?

Air Quality Alerts are available for most geographic areas in New England. Note that those areas in New England not covered by Air Quality Alerts do not generally experience unhealthy air quality.

When are Air Quality Alerts Issued?

Air Quality Alerts are issued in the late afternoon when ground-level ozone and/or fine particle concentrations are predicted to be elevated on the following day in your area. Air Quality Alerts are also issued during times when ground-level ozone and/or fine particle concentrations unexpectedly reach, or are approaching, unhealthy levels in your area based on monitored values.

How are Air Quality Alerts Issued?

Air Quality Alerts are issued automatically in the form of a text message sent directly to your e-mail address, digital cell phone, or pager.

How can I receive Air Quality Alerts?

To receive Air Quality Alerts, simply complete the registration form.
