What We Do

We are a customer service organization and our role is to assist you in getting timely, reliable, and understandable responses to your questions or comments.  If you call us, you will have a person to talk too, not an automated menu of choices.  If you hear a recording, please hold on the line.  One of our information specialists will take your call as soon as they can.  If you Email us, we will respond no later than the next business day.

If we need to refer your question or issue to another source, we will do our best to get you to the right place the first time. We invite you to view our list of most frequently asked questions (FAQs) about Region 8 and the Environment and to browse additional information About Region 8.

Some environmental programs have been delegated to states and it may be appropriate for you to talk to your state environmental or health agency first. We will assist you in locating them. Some issues may be handled by local (city or county) agencies and we will direct you to the appropriate source.

We have a repository for many EPA publications and provide individual copies free of charge. If we do not stock the publication you are seeking, we will direct you to other sources.

The Environmental Information Service Center (EISC) has received many phone calls and e-mails from people who are concerned about the environment, but they believe that any individual actions they take will not be make much of a difference.

In response to these concerns, EISC has developed four fact sheets that outline small steps an individual can take to help improve the environment. These fact sheets cover four areas:

(1) Reducing air emissions;
(2) Reducing pesticide and herbicide use;
(3) Reducing solid and hazardous waste; and
(4) Protecting the water supply

Once you read these fact sheets and identify one small change that you are willing to make, please send us an e-mail and let us know: r8eisc@epa.gov.

We will then send you a "reply" e-mail, letting you know what environmental benefits will be achieved from your small change.

We will also let you know how many other people have agreed to make the same small change.

When it comes to environmental protection, you have more power than you think. EISC will show you that every small change you make contributes to a healthier environment.
