February 7, 2006 -- Under Secretary Tom Dorr (click photo to enlarge) recently visted Pahrump Valley, Nevada, where he toured the Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue Services facility. Rural Development's Community Facilities Program provides funds for rural emergency responders by financing needed equipment and services. Thee funds are available to public bodies, non-profit organizations, and recognized Indian tribes.

January 31, 2006 -- Under Secretary Tom Dorr (click photo to enlarge) at the ninth annual Wyoming Extension's Strategically and Technologically Informative (WESTI) Ag Day in Laramie, Wyoming. Mr. Dorr discussed ways to serve farmers, ranchers, and other rural customers through USDA Rural Development programs and investments in rural America.

January 9, 2006 -- More than $19 million in grants is now available for development of renewable energy projects and value-added agricultural business ventures. USDA also announced that 33 rural economic development loan and grant recipients will receive $18.8 million to spur economic growth and create or save more than 2,700 jobs in 19 states.
