Notice
EPA announces the release of the updated cancer assessment in the Toxicological Review of Beryllium and notice of the External Peer Review Panel Meeting in the May 12, 2008 Federal Register Notice. This draft assessment is provided for public viewing and comment. Public comments received on the Toxicological Review within 60 days after the release of the FRN will be provided to the external peer reviewers for their consideration. Any comments not received within the requested time period will be considered by EPA in their revisions.
EPA is conducting a peer review of the scientific basis supporting the human health hazard and dose-response assessment of beryllium that will appear on the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) database.Background
This external review draft version only focuses on the cancer assessment and does not re-evaluate posted reference doses or reference concentrations.
History/Chronology
| Nov 1987 | EPA completed the original beryllium and compounds assessment and posted this in the IRIS database. |
| Apr 1998 | Reassessment of oral reference dose and inhalation reference concentration released with cancer reassessment pending forthcoming studies. |
| May 2008 | EPA releases assessment that includes updated draft cancer assessment for an external peer review. |
