FY 2003 Priorities

RESEARCH, DEMONSTRATION, AND EVALUATION (CMS)

Research:

The Balanced Budget Act of 1997 (BBA) and the Balanced Budget Refinement Act of 1999 (BBRA) and the Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Benefits Improvement and Protection Act of 2000 (BIPA) mandate many demonstrations and evaluations, studies, reports to Congress, as well as the implementation of several prospective payment systems (PPS). Research projects include: the effects of development of a PPS for inpatient psychiatric hospital services refining home health, skilled nursing facility, and inpatient hospital PPS.
