The National ITS Implementation Research Center, a U.S. Department of Transportation University Transportation Center, ceased operations June 30, 2008. The Center was a consortium of George Mason University, the University of Virginia, and Virginia Tech (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University). George Mason University managed the Center.

The universities that comprised the Center offer 13 transportation-related Ph.D. degrees and 17 transportation-related Master's degrees, in various engineering and public affairs subjects. An important Center initiative was George Mason's Master's degree in Transportation Policy, Operations and Logistics. The program was started in 2000 and is still operating. It has graduated 110 students.

The Center completed 59 research studies during its eight year of operation. The final reports of these studies are available at the link 'Research Reports.'
