WASHINGTON — The U.S. General Services Administration’s Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) announced today the creation of the Multiple Award Schedules (MAS) Program Office within the Office of Acquisition Management. The Program Office will provide strategic alignment and champion the overall success of the MAS Program.
The MAS Program Office’s responsibilities include developing and implementing acquisition policy and guidance, defining shared systems requirements, and coordinating innovative program-wide improvements. GSA Deputy Administrator Barney Brasseux said, “I am confident that the MAS Program Office will ensure that the Multiple Award Schedules Program remains the government’s preferred acquisition vehicle for commercial products, services, and solutions. The new Program Office is a key accomplishment that will enhance our customers’ ability to meet their mission critical requirements.”
The FAS business portfolios General Supplies and Services (GS&S), Integrated Technology Services (ITS), and Travel, Motor Vehicle, and Card Services (TMVCS) will retain management control and operational responsibility for the schedules within their portfolios. The MAS Program Office will partner with these business portfolios as well as the Department of Veterans Affairs through a Governance Council to foster collaboration and mutual goals. The MAS Program Office is located in Crystal City, Arlington, VA. The office’s charter was signed July 2008 by Jim Williams, then FAS Commissioner, and now GSA’s Acting Administrator. Robert (Robin) Bourne is the MAS Program Office director. Inquiries about the new MAS Program Office may be directed to the GSA, Public Affairs Office at (202) 501-1231.
