GSA Collaborates with OPM to Launch Enhanced www.telework.govGSA # 10491 April 22, 2008 WASHINGTON – The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), in collaboration with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), today announced the launch of an enhanced interagency telework web site, www.telework.gov. The updated site features a series of user-friendly improvements designed to make telework information more accessible and understandable to Federal employees. “Telework.gov makes it easy for the Federal workforce to understand the benefits and mechanics of teleworking, said GSA Administrator Lurita Doan. “GSA is leading by example in the area of telework. We are empowering federal employees with leadership, strong policy mandates, clear guidelines and increased program support.” On www.telework.gov, users can read and download recent telework guidance and legislation, reports, and studies. A search database allows users to input telework-related questions, and if answers are not found onsite the questions can be routed to experts who will respond via email. The site offers telework guidance and direction to employees and managers, as well as telework coordinators. Additional features of the updated site include quick links to key pages, online telework training, and easy access to telework-related policies such as reasonable accommodation and emergency closure. In September, 2007, Administrator Doan challenged GSA managers to draw up plans to enable 50 percent of eligible employees to telework one or more days per week by 2010. Currently, almost 20 percent of eligible GSA employees telework, compared to 4.2 percent for the overall federal workforce. GSA is also developing policy and guidance in areas such as alternative office and space savings, continuity of operations planning, the use of telework centers as an alternative to working at home, and the revision of laws to facilitate telework. ### GSA provides a centralized delivery system of products and services to the federal government, leveraging its enormous buying power to get the best value for taxpayers. Did You Know? According to OPM’s latest report to Congress, 110,000 Federal employees currently telework.
