GSA Announces Revised FY 2008 Per Diem RatesGSA # 10465 March 7, 2008 Locations in Six States See Increase WASHINGTON – As a result of reviews requested by federal agencies, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) today announced increases to the FY 2008 per diem allowances for several locations within the Continental United States (CONUS). Locations affected are within the states of Alabama, California, Illinois, Missouri, New York and Texas. The rate changes become effective March 17, 2008. Under federal statute implemented through the Federal Travel Regulation, GSA is responsible for setting per diem reimbursement allowances for more than 8,000 destinations within CONUS. GSA uses the Average Daily Rate, a widely accepted lodging industry performance measure, to determine all lodging rates throughout CONUS. ### GSA provides a centralized delivery system of products and services to the federal government, leveraging its enormous buying power to get the best value for taxpayers. • Founded in 1949, GSA manages more than one-fourth of the government’s total procurement dollars and influences the management of $500 billion in federal assets, including 8,600 government-owned or leased buildings and 208,000 vehicles.
