Long Term Care Insurance

You and your family may be eligible to enroll in the newest Federal benefit program, long term care insurance. Two of the premier long term care insurance companies, MetLife and John Hancock, have partnered to form Long Term Care Partners (also known as LTC Partners), an organization devoted exclusively to the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program.

Long term care insurance is an important financial planning tool, and it’s important to apply while you’re still healthy. People of any age can develop serious conditions that require assistance with routine daily activities for an extended period of time and such help could be very costly. Long term care insurance can help cover the cost of this care and protect your assets.

You are eligible to enroll in Long Term Care Insurance using abbreviated underwriting provisions within 60 days of becoming eligible. Applications received after this initial eligibility period are subject to full underwriting provisions.

Eligible employees include individuals serving under a permanent appointment or an appointment which exceeds one year and whose official tour of duty is either full-time or part-time. (Temporary employees serving under an appointment limited to one year or less and intermittent employees without a prearranged tour of duty are not eligible to enroll in the Long Term Care Insurance Program.) Eligible family members include your spouse, adult children 18 years of age or older (including adopted children and stepchildren), parents, parents-in-law, and stepparents.
