In April 1986, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine experienced a nuclear catastrophe: an explosion and meltdown in Unit 4. In June of 1996, EPA's Gregg Dempsey was able to go inside Chernobyl Unit 4 and tour the abandoned city of Pripyat in Ukraine. These are the pictures he took during that tour and the descriptions reflect his impressions and recollections.
