Over the past 10 years, the complexity of steel bridge maintenance involving coating system removal and replacement has increased dramatically. Regulatory impact in environmental protection and worker safety, coupled with rapid changes in coating material technology have fueled an evolution of changes in the domestic bridge maintenance coating market. The net result of these changes has been the creation of new, often complex engineering technologies and cost increase exceeding an order of magnitude for bridge maintenance coating work.
